Villedieu Lake is home to a carefully managed stock of powerful, well-looked-after carp, grown on in a natural environment.

All fish are treated with the utmost care, and strict rules are in place to ensure their continued health and longevity.

The Lookout – On-Site Anglers’ Cabin

For your comfort during your stay, Villedieu Lake offers The Lookout, a wooden cabin located onsite exclusively for anglers.

The facilities are designed to keep things comfortable while maintaining the true drive & survive carp fishing experience.

To protect the fish stock and water quality, bait usage at Villedieu Lake is strictly controlled.

Important Bait Rules

• ❌ No shelf-life boilies
• ❌ No nuts or particles of any kind
• ❌ No artificial or plastic baits (including foam)
• ✔️ Fresh boilies available to purchase on site
• ✔️ Only maize purchased onsite may be used
• ✔️ Propolis antiseptic recommended (available onsite)

These rules help ensure safe rig mechanics and protect fish from unnecessary harm.

The following rules are in place to protect the fish, wildlife, and the future of Villedieu Lake. By booking, all anglers agree to adhere to them.

Fish Care & Tackle

• NO KILL fishing policy
• Maximum 3 rods per angler
• Rods must never be left unattended
• All fish care equipment is supplied
  (Landing nets, slings, mats, tripod & scales — please do not bring your own)
• Waders required
• Barbless hooks only
  ❌ No long-shank hooks
  ❌ Do not crush barbs
• No braided main line
• Minimum 15lb mono
• ❌ No leaders or leadcore
  ✔️ Minimum 16 inches of rig tubing
• ❌ No fixed leads – leads must eject
• Fish retention 5–10 minutes maximum
• Fish must not be out of the water for more than 5 minutes
• In hot weather, photography may be required in the water
• Weighing and photography within the swim only
• No standing while holding fish

Failure to follow fish care rules will result in immediate removal with no refund.

General Rules

• Swims must be kept clean
  (including cigarette butts)

♻️ Recycling Deposit

• €10 / £10 per angler
• Returned if recycling is done correctly
• Deposit kept if staff must sort waste

🚿 Toilets & showers must be kept clean
🚫 DO NOT use the woods as a toilet

Arrival & Departure

• Arrival: From 2pm
• Departure: Before 10am
