Dating back to the 1500s, Old Castle Lake is set within a picturesque heritage walking area, surrounded by history, wildlife, and unspoilt countryside. This hidden gem is a newly opened fishery, offering the rare opportunity to fish largely untouched waters that have seen very little angling pressure.

The Fishing
6 acre lake with approximately 120 fully tagged carp, giving complete confidence in the known stock
Four large swims, providing each angler with roughly 1.5 acres of water
Predominantly gravel lakebed with occasional silt patches
No weed
Peaceful, quiet venue teeming with wildlife
A true bird-watcher’s haven
This is a lake designed for anglers who value space, tranquillity, and discovery.
Old Castle Lake is primarily a carp water, with a carefully managed and fully tagged stock, but it also offers additional interest beyond carp fishing.
Anglers can expect to encounter:
Carp (including mirror and common carp)
Pike & Perch, adding extra activity and natural balance to the lake
Catfish – just the one!
This mix, combined with the lake’s low angling pressure and historic setting, creates a natural, rewarding fishing experience where every capture feels special.

Non-fishing guests are more than welcome, making this an ideal venue for couples or mixed groups.
Bait prices
Particle must be bought from the fishery 20 euros for 20kg
Boilies 8- 10 euro per kg
Pellets 3 – 4 euro per kg
Fresh or frozen boilies can be used
Rules
3 rods maximum per swim
No nuts at all
Micro barb hooks
Min 15lb line
No open fires at all
No pets
Fish over 30lb to be weighed in lake
No retaining fish longer than necessary for photos
Slings and unhooking mats and nets are supplied for
Only the venues own partial baits can be used
Bait boats are allowed
The fishery row boat is only allowed to be used for emergencies and anglers must where a lifejacket and go out in the boat at their own risk
