There’s big news coming out of Lake Pelagićevo this week – and it’s making waves across the European carp fishing scene!
From peg 26, one of the lake’s legendary residents made an appearance: a huge leather carp weighing in at 31.5 kg. Massive congratulations go out to Ivan, who not only landed this incredible fish but also secured his personal best (PB) in the process. At 31.5 kg, this leather is among the very biggest of its kind in Europe right now – a truly special catch!
And that’s not all. Lake Pelagićevo has been on fire this week, producing:
- 18 carp over 20 kg
- 3 carp over 25 kg
- 1 carp over 30 kg
A remarkable run that shows exactly why this lake is considered one of the continent’s top big-carp destinations.
About Lake Pelagićevo
Nestled in Bosnia, just 20 km from the Orašje border crossing with Croatia, Lake Pelagićevo is a paradise for serious carp anglers. The lake was originally formed in the 1960s, when sand was extracted to build the Tuzla–Orašje road. Today, the venue spans 33 hectares of grounds with 19 hectares of fish-filled water, averaging around 2.5 meters in depth.
The lake has a rich history with carp stocking, dating back to 1967. Thanks to careful management in the last 15 years, Pelagićevo has become home to some of Europe’s finest specimens. The results speak for themselves:
- Current lake record: 37.8 kg
- Estimated stock: 550+ carp, with no fish under 10 kg
- Giants in residence: at least 6 carp over 30 kg, 30 carp over 25 kg, and 170 carp over 20 kg
With 9 double pegs and one single, anglers have plenty of space and comfort to take on the challenge. And make no mistake – Pelagićevo is not about easy bites. It’s a true test of skill, offering fewer but much bigger rewards.
The Future of the Lake
Management continues to focus on quality over quantity, carefully introducing new carp with outstanding genetic potential. This autumn, another 150 carp will be added to the lake to strengthen the stock, while maintaining the lake’s reputation as a big-fish water.
With average weights already around 18 kg, and the younger fish showing phenomenal growth, the future looks brighter than ever. Pelagićevo is well on its way to cementing its place as one of the premier big-carp venues in Europe.
Final Word
Ivan’s monster leather carp at 31.5 kg is not just a personal milestone – it’s another chapter in the story of Lake Pelagićevo’s rise to fame. With more and more giants showing each season, anglers can be sure that the next record-breaking moment is just around the corner.
Lake Pelagićevo truly is Angling Paradise.
